Failed

Bother. Three serious and fifteen minor faults: sticking out too far when reversing round a corner, not checking blind spot when moving off, and either signalling too late or stopping signalling too late.

More lessons and another test ordered, but no date yet.

I'd better think of something tasty to do with the cabbage. [livejournal.com profile] papersky has a wonderful recipe with cream and butter, but the version I remembered didn't come out anything like hers.

Ah, poo. Better luck next time!

All the best drivers fail first time round. I did too :)

As for the cabbage, fry it up in some nice olive oil with a bit of salt and pepper and some nutmeg. Lovely, especially if it's Savoy :)

All the best drivers fail first time round.

My mum told me this just before my first attempt.

Good luck for next time!

Darn. Sorry to hear that. Better luck next time! (I only passed on my third attempt...)

Cabbage goes really well with bacon. I post merely for information. :)

Seconded: bad luck and bacon.

And I wonder why the comments seem to be coming out in some weird timezone.

Arse, bad luck Tom. Hope you don't have to wait too long for the resit. Must get round to do something about getting myself some more lessons and getting round to passing at some point.

It took me four tries at it - you'll be fine, and you'll be a better driver in the end.

Oh dear. *sympathy*

[identity profile] acronym.livejournal.com 2004-11-01 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry to hear that, but you're in good company - and bad company too, admittedly, given that I failed first time out :) (haven't got round to carrying on yet: this was six, seven years ago.)

*sympathy*. You'll pass soon.

What they all said; if it helps, I've still not even taken my test, and I'm sure I'd fail it the first time (my mum did and I take after her).

You could always move here, I hear (and see, from the evidence of the drivers in New Jersey) that it's a doddle.

You're still doing better than me... frying cabbage with garlic and soy, also good.

[identity profile] fivemack.livejournal.com 2004-11-07 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I would usually use meat as well as the garlic and soy; either finely-cubed chicken or finely-squared bacon.

Ed's generosity was magnanimous; a red cabbage (I braised it with sultanas and apple; 1.2kg of cabbage to start with, so four people ate copiously and it still fills a bowl) and a green one, which, yes, I will fry with chicken, garlic and soy.
