Two small Mac questions

1. Is it possible to prevent iPhoto from starting up whenever I insert an SD card or turn on a Firewire drive? It wouldn't be so much of a problem if it didn't take five minutes to load the photo library, during which time it can't be quitted.
2. Is there any way of getting messages filed in smart-folders in Tiger Mail to be invisible from the inbox folder? A smart-folder of messages not otherwise filed in smart-folders would also work, of course.

Force Quit would probably stop it - either right-click on the bouncing icon in the dock, or apple-alt-esc then choose iPhoto. While I doubt this would corrupt anything while just loading the library, I make no guarantees, etc etc. :-)
No idea about #2, I'm afraid - I haven't made the switch to Tiger yet.
