Spray them with soapy water?
And get rid of the ants that are farming them, if any, by pouring boiling water on their homes.

I know that works for whitefly, but I didn't know it works for aphids.

I'm assuming that a rush of ladybirds lead to watership down stylee exoduses, with lots of space for the brightest and best aphids to journey onwards to new lands, whereas everything else ends up with them dead.

I don't actually think aphids are just as pretty as roses, but I'll generally pick any option that involves people growing their hair long.

Isn't lavender suppposed to repel aphids? Hence the pretty lavender bushes grown around the rose garden in the botanical garden.
You could always try jsut dabbing them with essential oil, though lavender scented roses might confuse people :)
