On eating

It is wise to start cooking before one notices that one has become wobbly and light-headed from foodlessness.

Because then you are in a fit state of mind, and don't cover the grill-pan with clingfilm so that it'll be easier to wash up after the mushrooms are grilled.

Fortunately some ever-vigilant watchdog process in the back of my brain pointed out my muppetry before I shrink-wrapped the mushrooms, covered the grill-pan with burning sticky nastiness, and set off the fire alarm.

Mmm. Mushrooms. With Cypriot squeaky cheese (halloumi; though I may be thinking of it as paneer).

When you get that wobbly then you eat a couple of biscuits, some chocolate, a slice of bread or anything sugar/carbs that you can get into you fast before then starting on a proper meal.
