This is my third attempt to post this; the home wireless network keeps going down and losing the post. And I'm frustrated from repeated failed attempts to remove the background from a picture of a cute pre-Columbian "stirrup cup in the shape of a frog" using the GIMP, still queasy from the turbulence that rocked the plane on landing and made me sick all over the (thankfully un-occupied) seat next to mine, and of course jet-lagged.

England is thirty degrees warmer than Montreal, but doesn't feel it: I'm five hundred miles north of where I was yesterday, and the lower angle of the sun - the dark-grey mornings and the early evenings - is surprisingly perceptible and gloom-inducing.

My software for producing panoramic images is on the other computer; but I've had a first look through the photos, producing this picture of [livejournal.com profile] zorinth. None of [livejournal.com profile] rysmiel or [livejournal.com profile] papersky, I'm afraid; and the ones zorinth took of me are unusably glum even with the furry hat.

Back to work tomorrow, though at least there's a weekend to follow. Maybe I can take advantage of the jet-lag, get in to work at 4am and accumulate flexi-time by the bucket-load ...

Sorry to hear you are feeling queasy, but that is somewhat outweighed by the gret relief that you are home safe and sound; it was really fun having you here, and I hope it happens again at some point.

Absence of pictures of me is not a great terrible thing in the universe.

That's a glum-looking [livejournal.com profile] zorinth, too. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm sorry your otherwise enjoyable sounding holiday has been overclouded by what sounds a most un-fun trip home. My only consolation to you would be that in my opinion coming back from holiday to go back to work for only a day or two is a brilliant move. It's always such a relief only having to cope for a day until the weekend and having a whole week to deal with is just far too depressing.

It wasn't that bad; the flight was fine until the last ten minutes (strong cross-winds at Heathrow), and a bottle of water and a Mars Bar kept my spirits up until I could have a nice refreshing bath back home.

Not a bad day at work, and I feel pretty much back in my own time-zone. Time to go down to Tesco and replenish the larder, unless I want to dine on nothing but tuna fish and other peoples' white sliced bread over the weekend :)
