Come to sunny Croatia! Celebrate European unity!

Croatia joins the European Union on 1 July 2013.

I intend to be in Zagreb to watch them doing so, probably taking the train down - staying a little while in Munich on the way out - and flying back from Split.

Would anyone be interested in joining me? huskyteer came along when I went to Prague to watch the EU rolling east in 2004, and it was a fun trip.

Hmmmmm! I was thinking about Croatia next year, but as a motorcycling trip. But would I get a better experience before, during or after the EUnification?

In Prague I recall that the EUnification got us free ice cream and sausages in the grounds of the Parliament, a speech by Vaclav Havel and a fireworks display; which seemed a reasonable amount of moderately enjoyable experience for the price of one afternoon out of a long weekend. Also there were free concerts.

I can't find a list of organised celebratory events; I imagine one will appear a lot nearer the time.
