It's a balance, isn't it? If the combination of travel requirements and expenses policy is too onerous, you get a different job.

If one believes that one can do that with reasonable certainty, yes.

In the current economy, I would be extremely non-sanguine about my being able to just tell my employer that I was quitting and immediately get another job (especially if the reason I had to give for leaving my job was "onerousness of travel requirements").
