BOGGLE! at the fabled Marmite and Cheese Pancake

QUAIL! at the Pancake With Creamy Mushroom

CONSUME! the Tomato and Bacon Pancake

IGNITE! the Sugar and Flaming Calvados Pancake (bring your own calvados; works with most strong spirits, slivovitz might be fantastic, whisky probably not)

HELP! fivemack make even more pancakes

TELL! me if you'd like to come (mail tom@womack.net or comment here), so that I avoid either running out of eggs or being obliged to have six-egg omelettes for breakfast for the next week.

I don't know dairy-free pancake recipes, but if they can be made with ingredients available at the Nasreen Dar, tell me what's needed and I'll pick it up on Monday.

At my house (mail me if you don't know the address and can't read my friends-locked post http://fivemack.livejournal.com/146799.html with it in), starting 6:30pm, on Shrove Tuesday which is 24 February. There will be pancakes both savoury and sweet (so don't eat first!) and there will be an open fire.

Dairy-free pancakes: use soy milk or rice milk instead of actual milk, and fry in oil or margarine instead of butter. :)

Mmm, pancake with quail and creamy mushroom?

Alas, it appears that I am not small - therefore it must be that I am Far Away :-(

I shall not be attending. I have decided that it's not *actually* possible to make pancakes out of fake flour, fake milk and really fake egg (given that I can't have standard fake egg). So I plan to stay at home, cook up a lot of mushrooms and garlic, and *pretend* that I'm eating pancakes.

Exclusion recipe

I've come up with a reasonable vegan soya-free gluten-free pancake recipe:

4 oz Dove's Farm gluten-free plain flour
1/2 pt rice milk
1/2 tsp gluten-free baking powder
(e.g. made 1 part bicarbonate of soda, 2 parts cream of tartar)
2 Tbsp rapeseed oil

Does it still work with olive oil, because I can't have rapeseed oil. And I'll have to check that the Dove's farm stuff doesn't have any stray starches I'm not allowed yet. Thanks for the recipe, though I shall still stay away from people eating genuine pancakes, as I'm not very happy when around people enjoying things that I can't yet have.

Any mild-tasting oil is interchangeable in just about any recipe, I think. Cold-pressed rapeseed or olive oils, for example, have decided flavours which come through in the pancakes.

The Dove's farm includes rice, potato, tapioca, buckwheat and maize flours as I recall, but I don't have the bag to hand.

I made these pancakes at Woodcraft Folk this evening, and everyone (no other vegans, one wheat-intolerant) was impressed.

Ooh, what should we bring? Also, is there access directly to the garden, so if we come with the pram, we can park it without inconveniencing people?

There is access directly to the garden, though it's up quite a long path covered with very thick gravel, and there is still quite a lot of very soft earth in the garden after the tree-removing episode, so you might be better off wheeling the pram through the house anyway.

If you want to brave the gravel: coming along Victoria Road from the junction at the top of Castle Hill, go down the alley past the Meghna restaurant, then turn right through the big wooden always-open doors and onto the gravel path. Then phone 07595 360692 to get me to stand outside and gesticulate, because this is easier than trying to explain unambiguously which of the unmarked garden gates is mine.

It would be lovely if you could bring soft drinks of some sort, but you don't have to bring anything.

I wish I could: creamy mushroom and sugar and calvados both tempt, as does tomato and bacon.

Oh bother, why does everyone have pancake parties on the same day when I've already committed to a small domestic family evening. Chiz.

Wow, those sound yum! I wish I could be there, but I may emulate the Marmite & Cheese in the privacy of my own home.

My pancake pan is still buried in a box in the garage, so I may come along if I have the energy.

We'll -- well, no, we won't be there. But we wish we could be, and we may do the same at home. Without the tomato.
