Tidying

The problem with tidying my room is that it becomes clear afterwards that the room is too small to contain its contents.

I've the same problem with my house. Stuff expands to fill available space, all that tidying up does is somewhat organize the stuff.

Whereas before you weren't sure... It's like a crap shoot- sometimes it's a waste of time, sometimes you find cool stuff you'd forgotten about lurking underneath the piles of study material (or whatever it is you keep in your room.)
