Observations from the way of folly

If you gave up coffee for Lent, it is not wise to restart with a large cup of your office's fabled triple-strength espresso.

I suspect the path of wisdom would lead me not to restart at all.

The cartoons of coffee-driven enthusiasm never mention the persistent low-level back-of-the-headache and the strange taste in your mouth; they remind you that this is in fact plant-alkaloid poisoning.

Interesting. It seems to me that caffiene is something of a credit card. You get "extra" energy, but you pay it back with interest.

I can't tell whether I'm getting extra energy; I got some slightly non-trivial code written this morning, but that's scarcely unusual. What is clear is that either my eyes or my eyelashes feel itchy, which is not comfortable; it feels as if my eyelids snap back open when I blink.

Fair enough. I should remember that everyone's metabolism is different.

For what it's worth, I've heard from a couple of sources that caffeine keeps people awake, but isn't good for coordination and balance.

Oof. Sympathies. I've done that to myself a time or two - very not fun. Now I stick to half-caf.
