The moon, tonight, with my New Absurd Lens

It's near-enough full moon, so the rays from the craters are particularly visible; click on the image to get a bigger version with labels. The moon looks about as big as a shelduck two hundred feet away, so I'm expecting to get some quite nice pictures when I have spare time on a sunny weekend and go over to Fen Drayton lakes.

Oh, very nice.

How absurd is your lens?

How absurd? The lens is powerful enough to show the lettering on the Moon's maria and craters.

It's the universally-well-reviewed Tamron 150-600; it weighs two and a bit kilos, it's sufficiently stabilised that I could take that moon picture hand-held. Taking a picture of Jupiter produced a resolved but unimpressive result.

Try again on Jupiter with multiple images and Registax.
